Monthly Meditation Gathering
With Caverly Morgan
Open Dates
Monthly Meditation Gatherings focus on direct experiences of who we truly are, integrating practice into our everyday lives, and embodying realization.
Caverly combines meditation with a facilitated group discussion that is interactive and personal. Learn to see how suffering is created in your life and gain the tools to open, transform, and explore your direct experience of truth. Designed both for newcomers and those who would like to deepen their practice.
These gatherings are offered on a sliding scale; additional scholarships are also available. You can choose to purchase a 2024 Pass or individual drop-in’s. To request a scholarship, please email registration@whidbeyinstitute.org.
Schedule
This group meets on the first Wednesday of the month from 7-8:30pm in the Sanctuary. Dates include: 2/7, 3/6, 4/3, 5/1, 6/5, 7/3, 9/4, 10/9, 11/6* and 12/4. (Please note: there is no gathering in August.)
*Caverly will be away on retreat the week of Wednesday, November, 6th, 2024.
In Caverly’s absence, Hillarie Maddox will be facilitating the November Monthly Meditation Gathering. You may know her as one of Whidbey Institute’s co-executive directors. Here are a few of her words on the work:
“Rewilding Breathwork is a mindfulness and community care practice to deepen connection to self, community, and the earth. It is a space to become present to what is, be witnessed without judgment, and move through the rhythms of life.
“This session will focus on grounding and finding our center during a period of uncertainty. The 90-minute practice begins with a check-in followed by gentle stretching, 20 minutes of active breathing, generous time for rest, and ends with group reflections. You can choose to sit or lay down, and you are invited to bring a blanket or grounding objects to support you during the session. Avoid heavy food and drinks two-hours prior to session and review the contraindications.
“Breathwork is an ancient practice of intentional breathing to connect the mind, body, and spirit. Both activating and calming breath techniques are used to support the release of stored tension and shift us into greater ease and alignment in life.”
Parking and Getting to/from the Sanctuary
Please park in the LOWER parking lot and then take the direct path to and from the Sanctuary. The rest of the main campus will typically be reserved for retreat groups. In the darker months, bring a flashlight or headlamp.
