Love as activism, Trust as musculature.

Sunday, November 17th 2024

Through appreciative autobiography, we will explore experiences of sturdiness and stamina that have helped us build up the musculature of trust in life. Re-examining ideas of safer space in the context of trauma-informed engagement, we will invite a blueprint of love as activism.

When we choose to love we choose to move against fear – against alienation and separation. The choice to love is a choice to connect – to find ourselves in the other. – (bell hooks, All about Love, p. 125)

We will be working with embodied enactment. Inviting emotions, ancestral wisdom, collective care. We will not be engaging in debate. But we will engage in introspective social analysis by incorporating the framework Beyond Inclusion, Beyond Empowerment: A Developmental Strategy to Liberate Everyone. Participants will benefit from reading the book, but it is not required.  This workshop is for participants who have a high degree of self-consent with work that is embodied, mythopoetic, and that can bring up a range of emotions.
