Forest Bath Experience
May 3, 2026
Hello – I am Nancy and I am so happy you are interested in joining me for this Forest Bath Experience. Here is some information you may find helpful. Please reach out to me via text with any questions you have 509-599-3503.
Where: Whidbey Institute – Storyhouse located in Clinton, WA on beautiful Whidbey Island. Directions and details to be sent after registering.
What to Bring: We will spend half of our time outside and half of our time inside. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes for any weather and good walking shoes. We will be walking less than one mile on mostly flat terrain. You can also bring your own cup for tea if you wish but we will have some cups. We will be standing and moving slowly most of the time with some sitting as well, so be sure you have jackets for sitting on logs that may be wet. We will meet rain or shine.
Who: This experience is designed for adults and older teens who enjoy quiet time in nature. Due to the length and contemplative pace, this offering is not the best fit for children. Thank you for your understanding. If you are looking for a nature immersion experience for children, please ask – I have some great resources. 🙂
What is Forest Bathing? Forest bathing (inspired by the Japanese practice Shinrin-yoku) is not a hike or fitness walk. Instead, it is a slow, guided experience designed to help you relax and reconnect with nature through your senses.
During our time together, we will move slowly through the forest, pausing for simple mindfulness activities that encourage you to notice the sights, sounds, textures, and rhythms of the natural world. There is no destination and no pressure to “do” anything—just space to breathe, observe, and be present.
Most people find forest bathing deeply calming and restorative, offering a gentle reset for the body and mind.
Your Guide : Hi, I am Nancy Schmidt. I’m a Whidbey Island native who recently returned to Clinton with my husband, two children, and our dog, Chewy.
For more than 20 years, I have taught communication and connection to teens and adults, weaving mindfulness practices into both my teaching and my everyday life. I believe deeply in the restorative power of nature and the importance of slowing down. Additionally, I am a certified Forest Bath, Yoga, and Reiki practioner and am training to become a Shamanic Sound Healer.
It is a joy and an honor to share this forest bathing experience with you that will incorporate aspects of Shinrin-yoku, sound healiing, and will close with a simple tea ceremony. I hope to offer more nature immersion experiences throughout the year to come.
How to Register: Please reserve your spot by filling out this form. I will follow up with a confirmation email with directions and reminders.
I look forward to meeting you in the forest.
In Peace, Nancy
