This is a free event. CircleSinging is an invitation to connect with each other, ourselves and the earth through spontaneous music making. Guided by a facilitator, we use our voices and bodies to co-create improvised harmonies, rhythms, and melodies, exploring a range of sounds and textures. One moment might feel calm and meditative, while the next could be upbeat and energizing, with the music naturally evolving as we go. No two circles are the same!

This type of music making takes many forms all over the world, and has been popularized here by legends like Bobby McFerrin and Rhiannon of WeBe3. Max also draws inspiration from their experience singing with organizations like Partners for Youth Empowerment, Gaia Music Collective, and Música do Circulo.

This event is for all levels and experiences with singing, including folks with no experience whatsoever. Whether you’re a professional musician, bonafide shower singer, or just curious about what’s possible, circle singing offers a welcoming space for play, connection and shared creation. There is no pressure or expectation for anything to sound “good”—sometimes it even gets a little silly.

If you’re curious but also not sure about the idea of singing who-knows-what in a room full of strangers, that’s OK too. The invitation is always to listen to your body, take care of yourself, and say “no thanks!” to anything you don’t want to do.
